Magicut Tools, an Indian company in the business of cutting tools, owned this 10-Acre site in Palghar near Mumbai, India. The site had an old, unused factory building that had been abandoned in the early 1990s.
In 2008, Magicut appointed SDM Architects to create a new master plan for the site that would incorporate new areas for production, as well as convert the existing structures into well appointed production spaces with modern amenities.
A master plan was drawn up that inserted new staff facilities into the existing building. SDM Architects were also asked to make production planning drawings based on detailed studies of the production process.
An existing residential building was converted into the corporate office.
The site is heavily forested with teak trees, so the new interventions were woven into this environment with minimal effect on the trees.
